Ridge Vineyard
Stag's Leap Wine Cellars
Heitz Cellars
Clos du Val
想知道他們如何在盲目試喝中脫穎而出嗎? 嗯....請待我下個月將酒款都找到了,再約大家好了。

Nonsense competition!! Apple compared orange!!
Hello Simon, After I get a fully understanding of this so called Judgement of Paris, I will get back to you.
No need to worried about my personal opinions, we just think it's nonsense when we read it, it's all about personal taste!!! I love Burgundy with the passion, but in reality less half of all guests I've been served really appreciated Burgundy's wines, most of them preferred U.S. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, that doesn't means American wines beats French wines, just because it required little more knowledge to understand it! American wines so easy to drink and understand, no strict appellation law what so ever, basically they could do whatever they like to make the wines please American's palate, on another hand French wines has so much appellation control, and only to achieved their wine at their best!! It just different styles that's all!!
"It just different styles that's all!!" Instead of "different styles", I prefer the "different tastes" to represent it. However, how does burgundy wine taste like? Could you tell us more, thanks a lot.
"見到你的"廬山真面目"" Indeed, I can't wait to see how Jimmy looks like....hahaha Expecting...
Yes! indeed different styles and of course different taste too, first to appreciate world wines is by understand the culture of wines, viticulture area, climat, aspect, location etc, etc, meaning terror, do you preferred fugi apple or washington apple? I preferred fugi apple from Japan, but some people preferred washington apple from U.S., why??? personal taste!! If more than half of people love fugi apples, all sudden washington apple grower decided to grow their apple to taste like fugi apples but still label as washington apples would you appreciate more of washington apples??? Every apple grower cultivate their apple by what mother nature given to them, by all means they all have different characteristic, so some preferred U.S. some love Japanese apples, samething to wines, different viticulture area produced different styles of wines therefore different taste!!, I would agree if they compared all Cabernet Sauvignon produced from Napa also from the same district to judge which one is better and of course all blind tasting form, that would be the meaning of competition and which one really stand out!!, But by compared two different things and judge which really stand out, the question is why??? Because you just CAN'T, like I mention before apple and orange, besides fruit they don't share anything in common, now, supposely blind tasting form, new world VS old world, new world strong on fruity taste (most of the case), but old world more of balance (except hot vintages), I preferred balance, some preferred fruity taste, take Chardonnay for example, California Chardonnay can never ever achieve the same style produced from Burgundy, Why?? Because two different places on earth, does that mean Burgundy produced better Chardonnay?? My personal opinion Yes, but to some, don't, because they hate high acid wines, but high acid is the key of Burgundy Chardonnay, ask people do they like high acid wine??? most of people will say no!! but there are many factor why Burgundy Chardonnay has such high acid, but the same time they forgot other elements in Burgundy Chardonnay, California Chardonnay strong on fruit lack on acid, most people just preferred that style, but don't forget it's all about fruit juice, would rather eat a piece of fruit with tons of sugar no acid, or would you eat a piece of fruit with tons of acid lack of sugar?? My answer neither!! I preferred a piece of fruit with balance of acid and sugar, another important factor "Yield", how much grapes you are allow to make wine in one hectare?? there is max. yield in Burgundy but there is no law control in California, but again that does mean California produced bad wines, all I am trying to say is there is no bad wines, but there is poorly made wines and that referred to all wine producing county, everything it's all about personal taste, if that competition it's all American palate judge, yes American wines rocks!! But what if all judge are all European judge??? well.........then we all the answers!!! We all could be the judge for all the wines, we all have thousands reason why we like or dislike certain wines, but it's not bad wines, it's just not your style of wines, simple as that.
Hi, Simon: According to your opinion, it seems like Borgogone's Chardonnay has the character of the balancing between acidity and sweetness. That will be probably the first thought built into my mind. I would take that into account before starting to taste Burdundy Chardonnay. Thanks after all. BTW, somehow Burgundy's wines are still too expensive that I can't afford it under the daily based. New world's chardonnay will fit me better for now.
It all depend, if you could find just Bourgogne AOC, it would be just as cheap as U.S. chardonnay, but I don't know the market in Taiwan, in U.S. it's pretty easy to find one, I think you should gather few people together to get perhaps three different white burgundy, from Bourgogne AOC to more specific vineyard designation white burgundy, in this way you could really see the different between those wines, and then take them compared to new world chardonnay, to have a little tasting group it's the best way the minimize expenses and yet maximize your tasting expierence!! Sincerely, Simon Wang
Hi, Simon: Greeting!! Would you like to introduce any local wine tasting group over there? By the way, where do you live? regards Danny
Hi, Vicky 薇琪: Sorry to occupy your blog for the individual conversation!! But thanks again for your specific detail of burgundy region classification discussion. regards Danny
Hello Danny, I don't really go to any of local tasting, so can't really introduced any of it, I'm lived United States, are you in Taiwan?? Our group it's usually around 5 people, no more than 6, we meet once a week, similar what Vicky trying to do there, but we don't really do any tasting untill a month before our exam date, we more focus on theory information. best, Simon
